Downtown

Revitalization

The city and its residents are committed to developing a downtown that draws residents and visitors alike, offering a family-friendly experience at an easy pace. With local residential growth, there will be opportunities for new shops and restaurants to locate in Liberty’s downtown and to continue building the city center as a place of creative activities, commerce, and community pride.

Located within minutes of the Pickens County Commerce Park, less than 20 minutes from Clemson, and 30 minutes from Greenville and most of the region’s lakes and mountains, our historic commercial district is the ideal location for independent businesses to prosper. Our downtown is a strong foundation for a local economy and business community.

A healthy downtown center will increase the property values in surrounding neighborhoods and provide a cultural center where members of the community can congregate to enjoy music, special events and celebrations bringing the community together and enhancing quality of life.

Our goal is to increase downtown visitation, spending, and increase options for dining and shopping by:

  • Creating a long term downtown revitalization plan
  • Working to reduce the community retail spending leakage
  • Beautification efforts
  • Business development and recruitment
  • Establishing a business incubator/co-working space and supporting entrepreneurship
