Utility Office

Our constant goal is to provide our customers with a safe and dependable supply of drinking water. We want them to understand the efforts we make to continually improve the water treatment process and protect our water resources. We are committed to ensuring the quality of our water.

We purchase our water from the Greenville Atkins Plant on Lake Keowee in Six Mile, SC. The water from Lake Keowee is treated at the Witty Adkins Water Treatment Plant, a modern facility that recently expanded to a capacity of 60 Million Gallons Per Day (MGD). The plant employs the conventional treatment process of coagulation, sedimentation, and filtration.

We are pleased to report that our drinking water is safe and meets federal and state requirements. We want our valued customers to be informed about their water utility. If you want to learn more, please attend any of our regularly scheduled meetings. They are held on the second Monday of each month at 6:30 PM at the Rosewood Center, or feel free to stop by City Hall at any time.

The City of Liberty routinely monitors for contaminants in its drinking water, in accordance with Federal and State laws. As water travels over the land or underground, it can pick up substances or contaminants such as microbes, inorganic chemicals, and radioactive substances. All drinking water, including bottled water, may be reasonably expected to contain at least small amounts of some contaminants. It is important to remember that the presence of these contaminants does not necessarily pose a health risk.
