Liberty Rec Week at a Glance
As we approach our Homecoming Saturday, we want to highlight some of our incredible sponsors and vendors.

As the temps warm up this weekend, stop by Sweet Carolina Lemonade for a refreshing drink or even just to say, "Thank you!" for being a part of our community and giving back to the recreation department.

Sweet Carolina Lemonade: "My name is Jennifer Michaelangelo and I am the owner of Sweet Carolina Lemonade. My business partner, Jackie Rule and I, started our fresh squeezed lemonade business in 2023 because we wanted to bring something simple, refreshing, and homemade to our community. We are still learning and trying new things as we grow! Our favorite part of owning the business is connecting with our customers—hearing their stories and seeing their reactions. There's nothing better than sharing something we love and watching it brighten someone’s day. We also love hearing feedback."

Thank you SCL! We'll squeeze... I mean see... you soon!

Cheerleading Competition
This week we are highlighting two coaches of the week... it just wouldn't be right to do one without the other.

These two are like macaroni and cheese... they work great together and our kids love them (sorry that was cheesy ;) )... Coach Blair Bearden and Coach Jen Stewart! They were nominated by a family of the 8U sideline cheer team. Here is how they have made a difference for our cheer girls.

"I would love if it’s ok to nominate both Coach Blair Bearden & Coach Jen Stewart for coach of the week! They both have been amazing with the girls and teaching them, knowing they all have varying skill levels from more experienced to just starting out.
Coach Blair has been absolutely stellar with communication to us parents and it’s so much appreciated. The 2 of them together work perfectly with so many different personalities on our 8U sideline cheer team. My daughter, Sadie, is one who is just starting out and she looks forward to every single practice and game that they have."

These two are no strangers to the cheer world. Not only are they LHS alum and former Cheer State Champs but they also served as coaches for the high school team for many years. They have spent so much time giving back to our community and now they get to do that as not only coaches, but as mothers, as well. Coach Blair and Coach Jen bring so much enthusiasm and knowledge to our recreation cheer department. Coach Blair also serves as our Cheer Manager. We are so thankful for both of them and their contributions to our town!

Our Coach of the Week is sponsored by Bolt's Auto Sales. We are proud to work alongside Bolt's Auto Sales - a locally owned, small used truck dealership. At Bolt's, they strive to provide quality, reasonable vehicles, ready to work for you. They are voted best used dealership in Pickens County, Runner-Up for best used dealership in the Upstate and take great pride in serving our community with top notch vehicles. You can shop in person or browse online at https://boltsautosc.com/.

Liberty Rec Coach of the Week
It's that time of the week!

Announcing our Male Athlete of the Week, from 10U tackle, Taysen Whitfield. Taysen was nominated by Coach Jake Sexton. Taysen is a big impact player for our 10U guys. He's all over the field, making plays and you'll get used to hearing his name called from the announcer's booth. He does whatever is needed for his team and he loves being on the field... just look at that big smile!

Our Male Athlete of the Week is sponsored by H.A.L.O Designs. We're glad to partner with H.A.L.O designs who has generously chosen to donate an AOTW t-shirt to the winners each week. Liberty Rec Male Athlete of the Week
It's that time of the week again!

Our Female Athlete of the Week comes to us from All-Star Cheer. She may be little but boy, is she fierce... Ensley Mulkey! Coach Bryson nominated Ensley. This is what she has to say about her, "Ensley is one of our littles for Liberty Recreation All-Star Cheer. When Ensley came in she was scared to do much of anything. As the season went on, she has worked hard and faced her fears and is now doing advanced stunts for her age! She has proven that with hard work and dedication you can do anything. My favorite thing about Ensley is her sweet smile. Coaching her has been such a blessing and so rewarding. There is nothing like seeing her little face light up when she hits her routine. She is full of fire and the sweetest cheerleader sass."

Our Female Athlete of the Week is sponsored by Ivey's Furniture. We are proud to sponsor with Ivey's Furniture, a family owned business offering furniture and mattresses and voted best in the county! You can shop their store at Market at the Mill or online at shopiveys.com.

Liberty Rec Night

Many of you have reached out recently asking how you can get involved with supporting the recreation department.

We are always looking for coaches, referees, concessions workers and more... but we also understand you don't always have the time to donate.

If you are interested in making monetary donations, we would love to speak with you more. Attached you will find our current sponsorship packages. If you are interested in partnering with us, email jblack@libertysc.com.

Interested in sponsoring but have ideas outside of these packages? We'd love to hear your thoughts, as we're currently working on some projects ourselves! We want our athletes and coaches to get the very best treatment and are excited to work alongside you!

We're excited to start highlighting some of the amazing coaches we have at the Liberty Rec! We were blown away by all of the incredible nominations and stories that so many of you shared with us... it was hard to pick just one. But nonetheless, the we did and we're excited to announce...

"P-Nut" Williams as our first ever Coach of the Week! Take a second to read what a parent wrote about Coach Williams and what makes him so great.

"I would like to take a moment to nominate Coach Pnut (from 10u Sexton football) for Coach of the Week. He embodies the qualities of an outstanding coach by seeing each player as an individual and working with them in ways that bring out their best.

When Coach Pnut coached my son—and even now as I watch him with other children—he reminds me of Coach Yoast from Remember the Titans. While many coaches focus on tough love or big motivational speeches from the sidelines, Coach Pnut takes a different approach. He consistently finds a way to pull each child aside, get down on their level, and truly connect with them. (I have attached a photo from this past Tuesday’s game)

As a parent, I know that no two children are alike. I don’t parent my daughter the same way I parent my younger son, nor do I parent my younger son the same way I parent my older son. Each child learns differently, responds to criticism differently, and requires a unique approach. I see that same understanding reflected in the way Coach Pnut coaches. He recognizes individuality, adjusts his style, and helps each player grow not only as an athlete but also as a person.

For these reasons, I wholeheartedly believe that Coach Pnut deserves recognition as Coach of the Week. His ability to connect with players, adapt to their needs, and inspire them makes him an exceptional leader and role model."

WOW! Thanks Coach Williams for ALL that you do!

You know what time it is... it's time for our Liberty Rec Athlete of the Week!

Our Male Athlete of the Week is Lukas Autrey! Luke is a member of Team Alexander, one of our 6U Flag FB teams. Luke is a lean, mean, touchdown machine and not to mention a devil on defense! He's a hard worker and a true competitor at heart. At just 6, he wants everyone around him to be operating at full capacity because he too, is always giving 110%.

Our Male Athlete of the Week is sponsored by Ivey's Furniture. We are proud to sponsor with Ivey's Furniture, a family owned business offering furniture and mattresses and voted best in the county! You can shop their store at Market at the Mill or online at shopiveys.com.

9/2 Update: Some areas are beginning to see their water clear up. Please remember, there is no threat to safety…air in the lines is simply taking time to work its way out. A boil advisory is not in place.

4 months ago, The City of Liberty
Attention Liberty Community: We are still experiencing air in the water lines. The only way to resolve this is by opening hydrants to allow the air to escape. Please know this is not “wasting” water—it is standard practice for water companies, and your bill will not be affected. The City of Liberty recognizes that there are costs associated with operating a water system, and part of that process includes running water as needed to maintain quality. The timeframe for the air to fully clear is beyond our control, but our Public Works team has been working diligently throughout the weekend to monitor the situation. The water remains safe to consume. If you notice dark or discolored water, please call our emergency line (864-843-3956) immediately. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
