It takes a village as they say, and we at the Liberty Rec are blessed to work alongside so many game changers in changing the game for these kids.

Coach Brandon is the Head Coach for one of our 6U Flag Football teams. He's been a great addition to our Liberty Rec family. Although a competitor at heart, Coach Brandon ensures every kid plays and truly wants to see them succeed. He teaches the fundamentals on the game and he's tough but you can tell just how much he loves his athletes and cares about them on and off the field.

"Coach Brandon is an incredible coach. He speaks to every kid by name, asks them about their days, and wants to know how they're doing in school. He encourages great sportsmanship and respect all around, even making sure kids are respecting their parents in his presence, which is huge for the kids to hear the same lessons they hear at home, from their coach. I for one know that my kids really look up to Coach Brandon and he has made them feel like his own. Besides his character, he is great about taking the game and making it make sense to young kids. It's so fun watching it finally click for them. Coach Brandon has created an environment that is not only fun and engaging, but teaches kids that its okay to make a mistake but its not okay to stay there. All of the kids on his team have truly learned valuable lessons from him and shown tremendous growth throughout the season."

Our Male Athlete of the Week, coming to us from 10U Tackle, Jonathan "Jon Jon" Melton! Coach Sexton says, "He is one of our team captains. He is a leader not only on, but also off the field. He's one of those players that any coach would love to have, and we're lucky to have him. He is also one of the two who prays over the team before and after the games." Team Sexton took a tough playoff loss last night, however, Jon Jon was seen cleaning up the stands after the game. Kids like Jon Jon is what will make Liberty great!

Introducing our Female Athlete of the Week - Everleigh Lapointe! Everleigh is part of our tball program and comes to us from Team 6U Cooley. According to Coach Cooley this is her 3rd season playing under his leadership. Coach Cooley says, "She is a joy to coach and keeps me on my toes. She recently moved over to first base and has been killing it. She has gotten several people out." Don't let that sweet smile and the word tball fool you... Coach Cooley says she is hitting well and this season has been hitting consistently off the pitch! Way to go Everleigh. We can't wait to watch you grow in this sport.

This week is our "Game Changer" week. Our athlete's were given a chance to nominate a Game Changer in their life. Athletes chose a teacher, a coach or a mentor, to invite to their games this week. We are excited to recognize these amazing folks this week.
