We are excited to be back highlighting some of our amazing coaches here at the Liberty Rec! Since the season has begun, the number of texts, calls and even people taking the time to stop by just to brag on Coach Shai has truly been incredible.
Coach Shai took on head coaching the 10U boys' team after volunteering as an assistant football coach for a few seasons. There's a lot we could say about him, but I think this says it best:
“Coach Shai has taken on the task head-on and has done a great job with the boys. All of the kids love Coach Shai and look up to him; as a result, they give him their all 100% of the time. Coach Shai is a former Rec Devil and Red Devil. We need more Coach Shai’s coaching and mentoring these young men at Liberty Rec.”
Coach Shai we can't say thank you enough! Parents, appreciate him while you can... I can almost guarantee it won't be long before even better opportunities come his way!

We're excited to introduce our Female Athlete of the Week this week, Scarlett Monroe! Scarlett is on Team Whitmire, one of our 10U girls' teams. Scarlett was nominated by Coach Jay, and this is what he had to say about her:
"Scarlett has worked extremely hard on everything that her coaches have taught her! She is killing it in rebounds, out-of-bounds saves, screens and much more! We can’t wait to see her continue to grow in the game of basketball!"
Keep up the good work, Scarlett!
Our Female Athlete of the Week is sponsored by H.A.L.O Designs. We're glad to partner with H.A.L.O designs who has generously chosen to donate an AOTW t-shirt to the winners each week. Athlete of the Week is back, and our boys have been SHOWING OUT!
This week's Male Athlete of the Week is Eli Pease, representing 10U Team Johnson. Eli makes a huge impact on Team Johnson. Whether they need someone to score, rebound, assist or just plain hustle, #2 is the guy and he is fun to watch!
Coach Johnson says Eli is so coachable. Last week, he helped lead the team to a big win, scoring 14 of 23 points and pitched in 5 rebounds over Pickens. Eli is a force and we're glad to have him as an athlete of the Liberty Rec.
Our Male Athlete of the Week is sponsored by Ivey's Furniture. We are proud to sponsor with Ivey's Furniture, a family-owned business offering furniture and mattresses and voted best in the county! You can shop their store at Market at the Mill or online at shopiveys.com.

As leaves start to pile up, please do not place leaves in ditches or along drainage areas.
When leaves get compacted, they can clog storm drains and ditches, which leads to poor drainage and flooding during heavy rain. Keeping these areas clear helps water flow properly and keeps our streets and neighborhoods safer.
We appreciate everyone doing their part to help keep Liberty clean!

This is a series we’d love to continue and grow, and it’s made possible by participation from our local businesses. Since features are submission-based, there may be weeks without a spotlight. Your involvement helps keep Talk of the Town Tuesday going!
