Christmas Parade – Info & Entry Forms

The 2015 Liberty Christmas Parade will be held on Sat., Dec. 5 at 6 pm.  The tree lighting ceremony will immediately follow in Pedestrian Park (at the intersection of Commerce and Front Streets) and will feature a visit from Santa!  Click on the links below for entry form and guidelines.  Free to enter.  (Note: Interested participants are required to read guidelines prior to submitting their entry.)

You are invited to participate in our annual trick-or-treat event taking place at the “old LHS” football stadium this year to ensure safety through better crowd control and avoidance of major roadways.

Participant Guidelines and Information:

  • This event typically draws approximately 2000 children. Please come prepared with enough treats to serve a large crowd as participants are not permitted to pack up early. This is for child safety as well as avoiding disruptions.
  • All candy must be wrapped in its original wrapper.
  • Participants are welcome (and encouraged!) to also bring games or other activities for children to enjoy at this event. Please be sure to describe the activity below so that we can follow up with you if we have safety concerns or other questions.
  • Participants may begin arriving to set up at 4:30 pm and should be completely set up NO LATER THAN 5:30 PM. You will receive your assigned location when you arrive at the lower entrance gate of the stadium.
  • Participating businesses/organizations are allowed to display their name/logo at their station as well as hand out promotional flyers, coupons, etc.; however, selling merchandise is prohibited from this entirely free event.
  • This is a family-friendly event. Please refrain from scary/adult-themed costumes, decorations, etc.

Mayor Boughman presented a check to the Pickens County Humane Society at last week’s City Council meeting for $3445, the amount collected in registration fees at City Hall for the 2015 Spring 5K and Dog Jog.

This donation added to the PCHS total of $1109.

Thanks to everyone who participated in this event and helped us raise $4554 for the local shelter!

Jenna earned a business degree from Tri-County Technical College in 2009 and has over three years insurance and financial services experience. She is an Oconee County native who enjoys the outdoors, spending time with her family and planning for her upcoming wedding.

Fit Club starts May 2, 2013

Need help losing weight? Do you need the tools to help you lead a more healthy lifestyle? Now there’s help! Come join “Fit Club” in Freedom Park for a fun group exercise class for all fitness levels! Classes begin May 2nd and will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays 6:30-7:30pm at Freedom Park. The classes will meet for 6 weeks and are led by certified personal trainer, Courtney Griffin. As a member of Fit Club, you will receive the 12 step program for fitness success, have the opportunity for measurement tracking and fit tests to monitor your results, and plenty of nutrition advice to help you reach your goals. You will also have the option to purchase a customized workout plan for more than half off the regular price! Fit Club costs are either $70 for the full 6 weeks or $7 a class. Just bring a towel or mat, hand weights, and water!
